In April 2026, a customer in Malaysia contacted YG Machinery looking for a solar post driver for a photovoltaic project.
The customer planned to install H-shaped solar mounting piles to an approximate depth of 500 mm and required a target installation capacity of around 300–500 piles per day.
To meet this high-volume piling requirement, YG recommended the YG-699-3 multifunctional drilling and piling machine, equipped with two power heads: a pile-driving power head and a high-torque drilling power head.
The configuration gives the customer a dedicated piling solution for repetitive solar post installation while retaining the flexibility to use different working methods when project conditions require them.

What the Malaysian Customer Needed?
The customer’s requirements were focused on fast and repeatable solar pile installation.
The main requirements included:
- H-shaped solar mounting piles
- Approximately 500 mm installation depth
- A target of 300–500 piles per day
- A crawler-mounted machine suitable for outdoor solar construction
- Sufficient piling capability for continuous installation
- Flexibility to use different piling or drilling methods when required
For this type of project, equipment selection is not only about maximum piling force. The machine also needs to support repetitive positioning, movement between piling points, and continuous operation across the construction site.

YG-699-3 with Two Power Heads
The YG-699-3 was selected because of its two-power-head configuration.
1.Pile-Driving Power Head
The pile-driving power head is used for direct impact installation of suitable solar mounting piles.
For the Malaysian project, the main application was the installation of H-shaped piles to an approximate depth of 500 mm.
Direct pile driving provides a straightforward installation method when the pile and ground conditions are suitable for impact driving.
2.High-Torque Drilling Power Head
The second power head provides high-torque drilling capability.
Depending on the project requirements, it can support operations such as:
- Pilot-hole drilling
- Pre-drilling before pile installation
- Helical pile installation
- DTH drilling when the appropriate configuration is used
This means the YG-699-3 is not limited to a single installation method. Contractors can select the appropriate working method according to the pile design and actual site conditions.

Built for a 300–500 Piles/Day Requirement
The Malaysian customer required a target installation capacity of approximately 300–500 piles per day.
This made productivity one of the key considerations when selecting the equipment.
For a high-volume solar installation project, the piling machine needs to repeatedly complete the basic cycle:
Position → Drive → Reach Required Depth → Move to the Next Pile
The YG-699-3 is designed as a crawler-mounted piling machine, allowing it to move between working positions on the construction site while the piling system handles repetitive installation work.
The customer’s 300–500 piles/day requirement therefore became an important factor in the machine selection and configuration.
Note: The 300–500 piles/day figure represents the customer’s target requirement for the project, not a guaranteed machine output under all working conditions.
Approximately 500 mm H-Pile Installation
The project required the H-shaped solar mounting piles to be installed to an approximate depth of 500 mm.
The required embedment depth was considered together with the pile profile and installation method when selecting the YG-699-3.
For suitable H-pile and ground conditions, the pile-driving power head can be used for direct installation.
If a section of the project requires pre-drilling or another installation method, the high-torque drilling power head provides an additional option.
This combination gives the contractor more flexibility than a machine designed only for one piling method.

Why Choose a Two-Power-Head Solar Post Driver?
For solar projects with a large number of repetitive foundation piles, contractors often need to balance installation speed, pile type, required depth, and site conditions.
The YG-699-3 combines two different working capabilities on one machine:
Pile-driving power head
↓
Direct installation of suitable H-shaped solar piles
High-torque drilling power head
↓
Pre-drilling, helical pile installation, or DTH drilling when required
This makes the machine suitable for projects where the contractor wants both high-volume pile installation and additional drilling flexibility.
YG-699-3 for Solar Mounting Pile Installation

The Malaysian case demonstrates a different application of the YG-699-3 from projects where drilling capability is the primary concern.
Here, the customer’s priority was high-volume H-pile installation with an approximate 500 mm embedment requirement and a target of 300–500 piles per day.
The two-power-head design provides the main piling capability while giving the customer additional options for different installation requirements.
